Pre-Configured Applications

When you subscribe to a VPS hosting plan through Pro-Tech IT you can choose from any of the following applications with your VPS. You are not required to choose any of these applications and can install them directly if required.

Windows VPS Pre-Configured Applications

• MSDE SQL 2000 / SQL 2005
• .NET 1.1 & 2.0
• IIS 6.0

Managed or Unmanaged Service.

A VPS has great flexibility which allows you to configure your server in many ways and as such, the management of a VPS requires basic system administration skills.  Pro-Tech IT can provide complete management services based upon an hourly rate or monthly management contract and this service can be added to your VPS subscription during signup.

Critical Updates and Patches

Pro-Tech IT manages the OS patches and critical updates for all VPS's, these are installed automatically by our technicians. However any application installed on the VPS is not managed and you should ensuring all applications are kept up to date.  (Please check with Pro-Tech IT if you wish to install and MS Windows OS patch)

Firewall Services

Pro-Tech IT can provide managed hardware firewalls for all our VPS customers at an cost of $9.95 per month. This service is available during the signup process, or by logging on to your control panel and selecting "Upgrade Center"  You should always ensure that your software firewall is enabled and correctly configured. Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can offer assistance with your firewall setup.

Backups

Pro-Tech IT provides managed backup services for VPS customers at a rate of $14.95 per month. Our managed backup services provide a daily backup of your VPS to a dedicated backup infrastructure. Unless you have subscribed to a backup service and have an agreement in writing with Pro-Tech IT, VPS backups remain the responsibility of the customer. You can use your Control Panel backup utility at any time to backup your VPS to our online backup servers.  Good practice suggests that you should also take a copy of your backup offline (downloaded).
