About Linux Plesk VPS

Unmanaged Service.

A VPS has great flexibility which allows you to configure your server in many ways and as such, the management of a VPS requires basic system administration skills. Pro-Tech IT can provide complete management services based upon an hourly rate or monthly management contract and this service can be added to your VPS subscription during signup.

Critical Updates and Patches

On all Windows VPS's Pro-Tech IT manages the OS patches and critical updates. However any application installed on the VPS is not managed and you are responsible for ensuring all applications are up to date.  Additionally you must configure your own firewall rules, or request a support member to assist you with this.

Updating PLESK

To update Plesk you should use the Plesk Update Facility available from the Plesk Administrator Login Control Panel. You should not download any Plesk updates outside of this as you run the risk of corrupting your Plesk Installation.

Backups

Unless you have subscribed to a backup service and have an agreement in writing with Pro-Tech IT, VPS backups remain the responsibility of the customer. Your Control Panel provides you with a facility to initiate backups to one of our online backup servers but you should also periodically download and keep a copy offsite
